The use of vendor managed inventory optimises the supply chain, whereby the supplier becomes responsible for maintaining the customers inventory levels. By having access to the customers stock levels and the use of vendor managed inventory software enables you as the manufacturer to generate orders and fill up as required.
An alarm is sent when the product level goes below a ‘re-order’ point, and sent directly to the relevant department by fax or email, who are then able to respond and send a tanker as required. There is then a ‘critical’ alarm which can be sent if the level were to drop further.
The customer no longer needs to monitor the level and then place an order. You know exactly what has been used and when, all at the touch of a button. As the system is fully automatic and computerised there are no errors such as the wrong button being pressed, or misheard words down a phone call.
